Town Council
For the past 8 years I have served as a Town Councilman in Westfield, NJ. As an Elected Town Councilman, I help make decisions that impact the Town of Westfield. While serving on Town Council, I work to establish the parameters of local government by creating resolutions and passing local ordinances. As part of my duties on the Westfield Town Council, I have served as the Vice Chair of the Finance Committee, Vice Chair of the Public Safety Committee and currently serve as Vice Chair of Code Review & Town Property. I am also the Town Council liaison to the Tree Preservation Committee. In the past I also served on the Town's Library and Planning Boards.
Government Experience
I am a Government Subject Matter Expert at a major International Telecommunications provider supporting our Sales Teams selling our services to local, state and federal Government. Previously I was a Government Representative working at the NJ Board of Public Utilities in the state's Clean Energy Program. The NJ Clean Energy Program is a statewide program that targets approximately $125 million each year toward technologies that save electricity and natural gas and increase the amount of electricity generated from clean, renewable resources.
Volunteer
I was raised to appreciate family and community which has driven me to volunteering. My most rewarding volunteer experience was being a Big Brother for 8 years.
Thanks to generosity from friends, family, and co-workers, I was personally able raise $25,000.00 for Big Brothers Big Sisters Program of New York City.
Today, the majority of my volunteer work is being Town Councilman. Westfield is the largest town in NJ where the elected officials are volunteers.
ABOUT MARK
I have lived in Westfield NJ for the past 12 years and proudly have represented the residents in the Third Ward of Westfield for the past eight years as a Town Councilman. My wife, Dr. Maria LoGrippo, a Nursing Professor at Rutgers University and we have two children, Francesco and Gemma. We are both active in the community and are engaged in our children’s youth sports programs and school activities. I am currently coaching my son’s Summer Travel Baseball Team and Maria is the Treasurer for the Wesfield Softball program. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing in 1990 from St. John’s University and an MBA from Adlephi University in 1995. I worked in the telecommunications industry in customer service, sales, and marketing.
In September of 2016, I had the opportunity to expand my love of Government and joined the NJ Board of Public Utilities in Trenton, NJ working as a Government Representative for the State's Clean Energy Program. As of May 2018, I am the Government Subject Matter Expert at a International Telecommunications company selling our services to Local, State, and Federal Government. I am passionate about volunteering and community service. For many years I was actively involved in mentoring and fundraising for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of New York City. Today, most of my volunteer work is being a Councilman. As Town Council member, I regularly knock on doors and engaging residents in discussions about the Town of Westfield. My desire is to continue serving to promote honest and efficient government.
